WASHINGTON (AP) — Lawmakers turned a Tuesday hearing on President Joe Biden's handling of classified documents into a partisan free-for-all. Republicans painted the president as reckless, while Democrats accused them of hypocrisy for ignoring former President Donald Trump's own handling of classified materials.

The hearing before the House Oversight and Accountability Committee was the first since the Justice Department appointed Robert Hur as special counsel to investigate Biden's handling of classified materials.

Hur has not yet issued a report on his findings, but he did testify before the committee on Tuesday. He said that he is still gathering evidence and that he expects to complete his investigation by the end of the summer.
