Eid al-Adha 2024 in the Philippines
Feast of the Sacrifice
Muslims Demonstrate Obedience to Allah
Eid al-Adha is a major Muslim holiday that commemorates the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son, Ismail, as an act of obedience to Allah. Muslims celebrate Eid al-Adha by sacrificing an animal, usually a sheep, goat, or cow, and distributing the meat to the poor and needy.
In the Philippines, Eid al-Adha is a regular holiday. In 2024, Eid al-Adha will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 17. Filipino Muslims will gather for prayers and celebrations in mosques and community centers throughout the country.
Eid al-Adha is a time for Muslims to reflect on the importance of obedience to Allah and to renew their commitment to following His commands. It is also a time to celebrate the community and to share blessings with others.
The spirit of Eid al-Adha is one of sacrifice, generosity, and community. It is a reminder that we are all connected to each other and that we should strive to live our lives in service to others.
