Francisco Franco was born on December 4, 1892, in Ferrol, Spain. He joined the military at a young age and rose through the ranks, becoming the youngest general in the Spanish army at the age of 33.

Rise to Power

During the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), Franco led the Nationalist forces against the Spanish Republican government. After the Nationalists' victory, Franco established himself as the dictator of Spain.

The Francoist Dictatorship

Franco's dictatorship, known as the Francoist dictatorship or dictadura franquista, lasted for almost four decades. It was characterized by authoritarianism, censorship, and the suppression of political dissent.

Franco's regime also implemented a number of economic policies that aimed to transform Spain into a more modern and industrialized nation. However, these policies often resulted in economic inequality and social unrest.

Death and Legacy
