The first film in the franchise, The Fast and the Furious, was released in 2001. It was directed by Rob Cohen and starred Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jordana Brewster. The film follows Dominic Toretto (Diesel) and Brian O'Conner (Walker), two street racers who become entangled in an undercover investigation of illegal street racing.
