Manchester City Held to Draw by Real Madrid, Advance on Aggregate
Silva, Foden, and Gvardiol on Target for City
Guardiola Frustrated by Wasted Opportunities
Manchester, England - Manchester City held Real Madrid to a 3-3 draw in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final at the Etihad Stadium. Despite the draw, City advanced to the semi-finals on aggregate, having won the first leg 4-1.
Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden, and Josko Gvardiol scored for City, while Karim Benzema, Vinicius Junior, and Rodrygo were on target for Real Madrid. The visitors had the better of the chances in the first half, but City came out stronger after the break and created a number of opportunities to add to their lead.
However, City were ultimately unable to find a winner, and they were left to rue a number of missed chances. Manager Pep Guardiola was frustrated by his team's failure to capitalize on their dominance.
"We created enough chances to win the game, but we didn't take them," Guardiola said. "We had a lot of the ball, but we didn't do enough with it. We need to be more clinical in front of goal if we want to win trophies."
Despite the draw, City will be pleased to have reached the semi-finals of the Champions League. They will now face either Bayern Munich or Arsenal in the next round.
