AEW Collision: Blue League kicks off Continental Classic with an upset

Copeland snaps with violence

AEW Collision recap and results

The August 26 edition of AEW Collision featured the Blue League opening round of the Continental Classic tournament, and it was Adam Copeland who shocked the world by defeating Johnny Gargano in the main event.

Copeland, who had been on a losing streak in recent weeks, came out with a new aggression and determination. He took the fight to Gargano from the opening bell and never let up. Copeland hit Gargano with a series of power moves, including a powerbomb and a spinebuster. Gargano tried to fight back, but Copeland was too strong. Copeland eventually hit Gargano with a Pedigree for the win.

Copeland's win was a major upset, as Gargano was the heavy favorite going into the match. It also marked the first time that Copeland had defeated Gargano in a singles match.

The win was a big moment for Copeland, who has been struggling to find his footing in AEW. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Copeland, but he has certainly put himself on the map with this win.

In other action on the show, Ricky Starks defeated Brian Cage in a grudge match. Starks was able to overcome Cage's size and power advantage with his speed and agility. Starks hit Cage with a tornado DDT for the win.

Also on the show, Powerhouse Hobbs defeated Dante Martin in a qualifying match for the Continental Classic tournament. Hobbs was able to overpower Martin and hit him with a spinebuster for the win.

The Continental Classic tournament will continue on next week's episode of AEW Collision. The winner of the tournament will earn a title shot against the AEW World Champion.
